The load on air-water systems

These systems take account of the diversity of sensible heat gains in the cooling load. Just how much depends on how they are designed; for instance, reheat on the air side can nullify some of the drop in sensible load caused by a fall in outside air temperature. The essence of such systems is that, by having individual chilled water cooler coils in units, such as fan coil, in each conditioned space, reductions in sensible load can be dealt with by throttling the flow of chilled water through local coils.

It must be remembered that the primary air delivered to the units has a sensible cooling capacity that must be regarded as offsetting part of the sensible gain.
